Science Cannabis Trail Blazer Renee Engle-Goodner
Renee Engle-Goodner speaks with Joyce from her home in California and shares her story of transitioning into the cannabis industry from wine and academia. Her expertise in both chemistry and biology make her a unicorn in the post-harvest technology sector, but when she was first encouraged to use her unique skill set in the cannabis industry she was hesitant. Although the plant had never been part of her personal life, her native American heritage and her own father had always treated it as a medicine. Renee shares her story of why following the odd advise of the two women who were guiding her academic life allowed her to transition from academic research to industry research, and how she found her place in the regulated market in California. On today’s podcast she shares her canna story on why she is on a mission to use the lessons of the past to create the industry of the future without reinventing the wheel, and why she is encouraging her local community college to engage young people in the cannabis industry.
